Certified Catalan Translation Services
Here are some of the benefits of using certified Catalan translation services:
- Certified translations are more likely to be accepted by official organizations, such as government agencies and educational institutions.
- Certified translators are held to high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
- Certified translations can help to protect you from legal and financial problems.
If you need to have a document translated into Catalan it is important to choose a certified translation service. This will ensure that your translation is accurate and complete, and that it will be accepted by the intended recipient.
A certified Catalan translation is a translated official document accompanied by a signed statement from the translator attesting to the completeness and accuracy of the translation. The statement can also be notarized by a notary public. Once a translation is certified it becomes a legal record.
So, an official Catalan translation is when it is certified either by the translator, or by a translation office or a notary. We can offer all these types of translation certification.
The most popular type of translation of official documents is a certified translation as a certified translation has the same accreditation in most of the countries.

Catalan language
Catalan language (Català) is a Romance language spoken primarily in northeastern Spain, particularly in the regions of Catalonia, Valencia (where it’s known as Valencian), and the Balearic Islands, as well as the Roussillon region in southern France, Andorra (where it is the official language), and small parts of Sardinia in Italy. It is closely related to other Romance languages like Spanish, French, and Italian, but is distinct and independent in its own right.
Catalan language, Catalan Català, Romance language spoken in eastern and northeastern Spain—chiefly in Catalonia and Valencia—and in the Balearic Islands. It is also spoken in the Roussillon region of France, in Andorra (where it is the official language), and in the city of Alghero, Sardinia, Italy. Catalan is spoken by some 9,000,000 people in Spain and some 125,000 in France, as well as by some 30,000 in Andorra and some 40,000 in Alghero. There are over 9 million people in the world who speak Catalan.
Although Catalan, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and many other European languages have their origins in Latin (these are known as Romance languages), each has evolved in its own way. However, despite mostly being spoken in present-day Spain, Catalan actually shares many more similarities with the language of neighboring France. For example, the Catalan word for morning is matí and the French equivalent is matin, whereas the Spanish equivalent is mañana.
Key Features of the Catalan Language:
- Origins: Catalan evolved from Vulgar Latin during the early medieval period, like many other Romance languages. It developed as a distinct language around the 9th century in the Pyrenean region.
- Dialects: Catalan has several dialects, including:
- Central Catalan (spoken in Barcelona and surrounding areas),
- Valencian (spoken in the Valencian Community),
- Balearic (spoken in the Balearic Islands),
- Northern Catalan (spoken in Roussillon, France). These dialects are mutually intelligible, though there are regional differences in vocabulary and pronunciation.
- Official Status:
- Catalonia and Valencia recognize Catalan as an official language alongside Spanish. It is also a co-official language in the Balearic Islands.
- In Andorra, Catalan is the sole official language, making it unique in Europe.
- In France, Catalan has no official status but is recognized as a regional language in the Roussillon area.
- Grammar and Vocabulary: Catalan shares features with both Spanish and French but retains its own distinct grammar and lexicon. For example:
- Definite articles: In Catalan, articles like "el," "la," and "els" are similar to Spanish but differ slightly (e.g., "els" vs. "los").
- Verbs: Catalan verbs are conjugated similarly to other Romance languages but have unique forms.
- Vocabulary: Some words are closer to French (e.g., "nadal" for Christmas, similar to French "Noël") while others are closer to Spanish or Italian.
- Cultural Importance: Catalan is more than just a language; it is a key part of Catalan identity and culture. There is a rich literary tradition in Catalan, with notable authors like Ramon Llull, Mercè Rodoreda, and Joan Maragall. Catalan culture is also celebrated through festivals, music, and traditions.
- Education and Media: In Catalonia, education is primarily conducted in Catalan, with Spanish taught as a second language. There are also numerous media outlets, including TV channels, newspapers, and radio stations, that broadcast in Catalan.
- Language Revitalization: Catalan experienced a resurgence in the late 20th century after the fall of Franco's dictatorship in Spain, during which the language was suppressed. Today, it is actively promoted by regional governments and cultural institutions.
Catalan continues to play a crucial role in the identity of its speakers and is an important linguistic bridge between the Iberian Peninsula and southern France.
